Abstract
The aim of the study is to identify stylistic trends in the piano cycle «Urania» written in the early period of the composer's work in 1904.
The methodological basis of the work is the interaction of the following methods - genre-stylistic – to determine the peculiarities of the stylistic specificity of the proposed works;
- structural and functional – for musical and theoretical analysis of their expressive features, architectonics and dramaturgy.
The Scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time a comprehensive analysis of the expressive means of the piano cycle «Urania», which belongs to the early period of the composer's work, has been carried out. It is revealed that it is dominated by impressionistic features.
Conclusions. The piano cycle «Urania» belongs to the early period of Fyodor Yakymenko's work, but has the characteristic features of his mature piano opuses. The cycle is characterized by lyrical and dreamlike fantasy images, calm, peaceful, serene states. Bright, rich in alternations, chords of non-tertian structure, consonances with addition and substitution of
tones, alternation of consonant and dissonant unstable segments of constructions, a harmonic palette with a predominance of colorful consonances, as well as metro-rhythmic variability – all this testifies to the features of impressionism in the piano cycle.
