ІНСТИТУЦІЇ В МИСТЕЦТВІ : СВІТОВИЙ ДОСВІД
Abstract
Today, art occupies a prominent place in a society and the economy. It is a means of communication both at local and international level, it is a cultural bridge that helps to establish a dialogue with other countries, promotes the exchange of ideas and mutual development. All this would be impossible without the proper infrastructure, which is represented by a wide range of art institutions – institutions engaged in demonstration, preservation (restoration), sale of works of art, as well as educational and research activities. They are various museums, galleries, centers of the contemporary art.
The article examines the historical path of formation and transformation of art institutions from the Alexandrian Museum of Ancient Greece to the museums of the Enlightenment, from the postwar «institutional boom» in the twentieth century to the present day. Also it notes the main characteristics of the museum and gallery, their common and distinctive features, explores their functions.
